| Name: | Sayid Jarrah |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 1968-04-24 |
| Website: | Sayid's Wikipedia |
[OOC: Sayid is 36 years old, Middle Eastern, with shoulder-length curly black hair and a full beard. He's a bit short and stocky, nicely muscular, and has a tendency to wear undershirts and cargo pants and not much else.
Sayid fought for the Iraqi Republican Guard during the beginning of the Gulf War, but was captured and made to translate for American soldiers and then to torture his own people for information. During his time as a member of the Republican Guard, he managed to free his childhood love, Nadia, from political imprisonment, and spent the next several years after the war searching for her, to no avail.
He lived in Sydney for some time, where he was again blackmailed by the American government into infiltrating a terrorist cell, leading to the death of his best friend Essam. Sayid was to take a plane to California that day to meet Nadia, but after Essam's death, he delayed his flight one day in order to be able to claim his friend's body and give him a proper funeral. The flight Sayid ended up on was Oceanic Flight 815, the flight that crashed on what his future girlfriend Shannon dubbed "Craphole Island." In the words of his former mun, "he's stuck on an island. In the middle of nowhere. With polar bears, crazy French women, and former rock stars. And he likes the polar bears best."
Sayid's position in the society formed by the castaways on Craphole Island is that of mediator, scientific consultant and military tactician. He's more intelligent than the majority of the other castaways, skilled at building and fixing and tinkering with mechanical things, and his expertise as a soldier and innate leadership skills are invaluable in the fight against the Others--the hostile scientists who have colonized the island and really don't want to share it with the Lostaways.
For the most part, Sayid is a levelheaded guy, usually quick to point out the logical problems in others' ideas and come up with better solutions of his own. However, when sufficiently angered, he tends to fly off the handle and become completely irrational, and when that happens, whoever's pissing him off runs the risk of getting killed. He's become pretty unhinged since Shannon's death, and he isn't going to get over that anytime soon.
Disclaimer: Sayid Jarrah is a character from the television series "Lost," and is therefore the property of the producers of the show. I do not own him and I am not affiliated with his PB, Naveen Andrews.]
